I'm thinking (very seriously) of getting an X20.
Anyone else got one?
No particular reason for the thread other than being interested in other's experiences. Everything I've read on t'interweb is very positive.

Forum member paganskins (Tom Fitton) has, or had, an Emerald guitar or two I think, though I seem to remember it was a bit out of the ordinary...?multiscale? Anyway, you might try searching this Forum for "Emerald" if Tom doesn't show up soon! Keith

An x20 12 string is my main 12 string, to put it into context my other 12 is an Avalon.
I did have a fan fret x20 but had to sell it due to an foreseen bill during my last recording.
I'm currently trying out a chimera double neck, I was hoping it might be a good platform for a 6 string /bouzouki so I only needed to take one instrument out and about. Unfortunately it's a bit mid and bass heavy to give the zouk tone I'm after.
The x20 does give a very good playing experience what with the ergonomics, soundport and playability. Playaway guitars have a couple in

Thanks for the input.
I've been speaking to Alistair, and today verbally placed an order direct with him, with deposit to be paid this weekend. I'm looking for a slightly non-standard nut/neck profile, so dealing direct makes sense.
Playability is the no. 1 priority for me, with sonics a close second. From everything I've read to date the (customised) X20 will do the job. I have a few weeks to finalise the nut/neck profile details before a build will commence.
Of course, the most important decision to make now is "which colour"!

Amber, though red is much nicer in the flesh and natural could be good

Ah, red is top of my list - not sure if he's done more than one red though, as there's such variation in the pics I can find.
Amber looks too much like a variation on wood, and for me a CF guitar might as well flaunt its non-woodiness.
