These have been my standard go to string for many years now but the last few times I've put them on it seems like they don't sound or feel as good as they used to. Have just restrung my Atkin with them and they definitely sound cheaper and less impressive than they used to even after 4 or 5 hours playing to knock that initial metallic sound off them. The last few times I thought I might be imagining it and it was just my ears or maybe the weather and phase of the guitar, as guitars do sound better some days than others, but this time it's really pronounced.
Anyone else use the uncoated daddario phosphor bronze strings noticed anything or is it just me?

I use them (though I've experimented with others) and haven't noticed anything off with them (well apart from the A strings are sometimes a bit 'wobbly').
Are you sure you haven't bought some counterfeit ones?

Doubt they are counterfeit actually paid full shop price for them from the guitar store in Southampton, where as used to buy them in 3 packs off the internet, the change seemed to coincide with them changing the packaging design about a year a go.

Weird... i did notice that the A strings started to get bit 'wobbley' when they started coiling the strings in pairs but, other than that, I haven't noticed anything different and, despite me trying loads of different strings, the EJ16s are still the ones I go back to...

Might just be me then!

I use EJ17 strings, bought in bulk (usually 10 sets at a time) online.
Over the last few years there have been 3 packaging changes I have noticed.
The strings have always remained consistent in quality.

Must be just me and my ears! Thanks for the replies, it's good to hear from long term regular users as it clarifies what has really changed here, I.e probably my perception! Without that feedback I'd probably start thinking otherwise.
I can see 3 potential solutions!
1) realise nothing has changed 2) explore different strings then rediscover how brilliant daddarios are in about 3 months 3) get a new guitar which will sound totally different!
Sound and perception of it is a funny thing, as evidenced by many posts on this forum, and how many of us fall in and out of love with various instruments and sounds over time.

You could do all 3, Peter. In fact you could repeat 3) ad infinitum.

The question should be "Do they want to change?"..... Keith

Do you think they should change to something a bit more like Newtones by any chance?

The big challenge with Newtones is buying the damn things. Managed to pick up 3 packets last week although I wanted 10!

Ah, there's the rub. If you'd been using Elixirs, you'd have been able to get 10 sets, but 3 would have been all you'd need.
