Ah, there's the rub. If you'd been using Elixirs, you'd have been able to get 10 sets, but 3 would have been all you'd need. ...and 0 would have been all you'd want...at least in my N*******-loving case! Brian

How much practice/playing per week are you managing to do if you change your strings each month - think my last set stayed on for about 3 months until the recent change, I guess I'm a tight and wad

Sometimes might spend a little longer working on a new piece or a bit of one. On weekends I usually practise or record or do some combination of the two for several hours. Say 10 hours in total if there are no social or family things getting in the way. My garden is crap, and household maintenance ... minimal. Kym

If you look at a set of D'Addario strings since they ditched Player's Points, you'll notice they no longer say 'Made in The USA' - even though the price point is now up to nearly a tenner. I've seen quite a few places (like Aiersi guitar) in China selling D'Addario strings online, so I suspect that they have moved production out of the US. I've used D'Addarios for 20 years and am now on the lookout for something else - nothing against chinese manufacture, but don't want to pay the premium for something which I do think has changed subtly fairly recently...

I've used D'Addarios for 20 years and am now on the lookout for something else - nothing against chinese manufacture, but don't want to pay the premium for something which I do think has changed subtly fairly recently... A lot of US companies have removed (or are removing) 'made in the USA' from their products as certain states (California in particular I think) class something as 'Made in The USA' only if EVERY material is US in origin/manufacture. So, for example, Martin may not be able to brand their guitars 'Made in The USA' because they use Indian Rosewood that is cut into boards in India, rather than importing a rosewood log and cutting it themselves. I'm pretty certain that D'Addario are still USA made, and haven't noticed any decline in quality at all (apart from the aforementioned new coiling issues with the occasional A string!) On my guitars I use the EJ16 set (sometimes with a .56 swapped in on the 6th string) and I play for an hour at least most days, and play out at open mics once or twice a week and change strings every month or so (I used to change more often) or when I notice that the B and G string don't like going from standard to Open D/DADGAD very much (they seem to be the strings that lose tuning stability most for me!).

Kym holy shit - that is sooooome practice pal - hats off to you.....you giving Tommy Emmanuel a run for his money then must make MUCH more of an effort to practice more myself, I know I say it all the time, I just need to do it, don't think about it and crack on!!
