I came across this apparently new banjo maker this morning, based in Penzance in Cornwall. Lovely looking instruments, and some stunning youtube clips of them in action. cornishbanjocompany.comBrilliant website too, except that it does't say how much they are I guess if you have to ask you can't afford it! Nice looking instruments and enjoyed browsing the website too. Some of the "extraordinary links between the banjo and Cornwall" are perhaps a little contrived though!
I am curious why some makers don't put any indication of price on their site?

Interesting banjos. I found the website awkward to navigate, and without prices, I'm loathe to investigate further, sadly.

Interesting banjos. I found the website awkward to navigate, and without prices, I'm loathe to investigate further, sadly. Don't they all start this way? First you begin the business with the idea of doing only pure custom instruments to perfectly meet the customers' needs. The huge variety of possibilities does of course not allow any prices for standards. Then you find out that you need a couple of basic models to give potential customers an indication of what you're capable of. After a while you have a range of models that are the root for customization so people know where to start from. Give them time. I wouldn't be surprised to find prices for two or three standard models in a year or two.

I asked about the prices- very reasonable- the funky looking one back with the twisty rod ranges from £850 up to £1500 (the higher price one is with one of their top notch whitechapel brass tone rim). I absolutely adore the look of the open back Robbie
