Anybody had any experience with these strings.I've heard they sound ok on mahogany guitars. Thinking of trying a set on a Martin OOO15SM.

I'm just trying out a "Medium/Light" set (13-17-24-32-42-56) on a guitar which can often sound very bright. So far they seem a bit more mellow perhaps but I think I'm going to like them. Anyone else using Monel strings?

I wanted something to tame some of the overtones on my Martin, so I tried them awhile back and didn't like them. I then read that they need a couple of weeks to lose the brash sound and then they have a warm, mellow tone and will last for months without deteriorating. I put them on the Martin again a couple of months ago, and after a week or two of harshness, they have indeed settled down into a lovely warm tone. I'm using mediums, but they feel much more flexible than standard meds.
I'm not sure whether I like them as much as Ernie Ball's Aluminum Bronze, but I definitely like them. The Monels last longer than the Ernie Ball AB, so that may tip the scales in their favour.

Do "retro" strings come pre-rusted ?

After a few hours exposure to the corrosive environment of my hands they've a few areas that look suspect; however they still sound OK!
