I had been thinking about buying maybe a travel guitar but, more likely a 12 fret parlour mainly for portability. I called into James Music in Carmarthen a few days ago and tried a Faith Mercury Naked. I couldn't believe how nice it was. Incredibly responsive with a lovely sound. I had read a lot of people praising Faith guitars before but hadn't had a chance to try one.
The only problem was the 43mm nut width. I'm waiting patiently for Roger Bucknell to tell me any day now that my Alexander is ready to be collected and that has a 45 mm nut so buying 43 wouldn't make sense. But, it was lovely. I'm just rambling now but, if anybody's interested in a parlour for not very serious money i'd recommend the Faith.

Funnily enough I gave a friend a lesson last week and she has one of the those. The nut width is ridiculous - she has long fingers and will struggle with it I think. Trouble is it sounds lovely? !

Same here, I tried one and really liked the sound and feel. But too narrow at the nut for me.

I had a Faith Mercury for a while (acquired from a member on here), and I thought it was lovely. I just didn't play it all that much, so it had to go. I don't mind the 43mm nut (small fingers ).

FYI. I posted a comment on the Faith website and had a response within about 30 minutes as below. ****************************** HI John, Thanks for the feedback. Always appreciated. Although not a Naked model, there is currently a Pro series Classic Burst Mercury with a 45mm nut. www.faithguitars.com/guitars/by-shape/mercury/product/114-fmsb45-bnc-parlour Your comment about the naked mercury is noted tho, and we will look at the nut options for the future. My very best to you John Alex Mew Associate Director ******************** Always worth letting people know when they do things right and making suggestions. John

I have short fingers so the narrow nut width suites me just fine. I also have a high gloss Venus. I have the mercury tuned to dadgad the tone is better than my playing.

'the tone is better than my playing ?' I wouldn't worry too much about that. The same apples to probably 99% of us, certainly to me .

When I play either of my Faith's I get people commenting on the tone, even when I plug the Venus into a pa or an acoustic amp the tone is great. Faith guitars definitely punch above their weight. I know some people can make a bad guitar sound good but Faith guitars definitely make a not very good guitarist sound a lot better.
