I know this doesn't apply to may of us (!) but there are certainly some amongst us to whom it does - although whether alexkirtley identifies himself as a 'folk' musician is up to him. The blurb limits it only to "The contest is open to soloists, duos and groups playing folk, roots or acoustic music from any culture. You must be resident in the UK, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man." and "aged between 16-21 years on 4 December 2015" Anyways, details here

Thanks for posting this Leo. I do wonder, though...,where are all the 'old folk musician' competitions, or even the 'Old Acoustic Guitar Musician' contests? Bloody kids winning everything...

Some of these youngsters are so darn good too. I'm sure the right time to learn to play is as a child/early youth. Though we can all try our best at our venerable ages, even Keith at a mere 65, whippersnapper!
