Hard to know until you try but my cynical nature would make me suspect that the Chinese made version might not be the genuine article... Another option would be to forget the UST method of amplification altogether and fit a K and K under bridge system instead.... www.thomann.de/gb/kk_pure_mini_pure_western_mini.htm PS..welcome to the forum!

Gary, as Andrew says it's almost impossible to tell for sure, although they do seem to be the same. If the price difference is as much as that, it might be worth the gamble as you wouldn't be losing too much money. I do like the alternative suggestion of installing K&Ks, though. Great pickups! Oh, and

Hi Gary, and welcome to the Forum!
In what plugged in situations do you use this guitar? In partic, are drums/bass/loud stage volumes envisaged?

I found one on eBay from turkey for €65 so I'm after ordering it. Thanks anyway!! Appreciate it!! Just one other question. At the moment I'm playing solo acoustic gigs with a Roland ac60, I play small - medium venues with the max of 100 people. A lot of the time I feel like I'm trying to push it to be heard so I'm planning on upgrading. I've a max of around €600 to spend. Do you's have any recommendations on what gear to look at?? Would I be better off with an "all in one" system like Yamaha stagepas or Maui 11, or go for a the full PA system speakers and desk job?? Thanks!!

I'd have thought that if you raise the Roland amp high enough you should have plenty of volume for 100 people.
Don't worry too much about struggling to be heard.
The ones who really want to listen will position themselves so they can hear. The rest will still talk, shout, etc no matter how much volume you throw at them.

I've never heard of the Maui systems before. I had a look and they are pretty interesting, though seem to lack any kind of controls other than levels.
I have a Fishman Solo Amp SA220 and am really happy with it, but it is over your budget of €600.

Would I be better off with an "all in one" system like Yamaha stagepas or Maui 11, or go for a the full PA system speakers and desk job?? Thanks!! I know how that feels. As Keith says people who want to listen will often gravitate to the front. Mind you, I've done a few gigs with those listening sitting at the back with the chattering masses in front of them! Bear in mind that if you whack up the volume the chatterers will whack up there's as well. I've been drive back to organising occasional musical evenings simply so we can be sure the audience is coming just to listen to the music! It sounds to me as if you are on the way to buying a new amp! You have to think about it a bit. For that money you can buy an AER Compact which is a great piece of kit with more ability to fill a room than its 60W rating would suggest. Something like this is great for rehearsal and for solo gigs. If you want to play with others or, perhaps, run a club or occasional event you might want to start looking at the PA route. Just be clear what it is you want to do!
