Now you may think I've posted this in the wrong section, but my reason for raising it is primarily to tell you what I'm doing over Easter (or more accurately on Bank Holiday Monday). It is music and it is acoustic, but it isn't the sort of thing I normally attend. I'm doing a marathon. In London. Here it is: I hope it will be interestingApparently there will be recitals and concerts, lectures and the audience will be invited to learn and sing the Easter cantata "Christ lag in Todesbanden" So, on Monday I can honestly say I'll be singing in The Royal Albert Hall. I'm really looking forward to it. :jig:

I shall be attempting to tab out a few songs off Martin Simpson's latest album which is due to be released in July this year. That'll keep me off the streets for some time...
Cheers,
Ian

That's an amazing project Paul. Enjoy your Easter Marathon!
I'm going to finish redecorating the bedroom and then hopefully find the time for my "Riverbelle" project. Based on the info slidingwolf Martin gave us at HB3 I'm planning to change my old Maya Hummingbird into a slide guitar.

A project which will, of course, be fully documented in the 'guitar builds' section, I trust, Bernd?

Having just had texts from both my daughters it seems my weekend is shaping up like this -
Friday - outdoor short morning service on Castle Mount overlooking the village where we erect v large cross every year on Palm Sunday. Fortunately no music input needed. Fine weather please!
Saturday - fetch younger daughter Rosie home for ? days from Oxford before her finals.
Sunday - lead the worship band for main morning service - Easter Sunday is usually standing room only unless you get there v early. Unfortunately "band" may just be me and a fiddle.
Monday - fetch elder daughter Grace from Oxford, again for an unspecified period. Why my daughters can't co-ordinate their commitments better is beyond me!
Tuesday - attend a friend's funeral. (he was called Keith too.)
Really looking forward to spending some time with my daughters, and hope to squeeze in some music with Glyn once the w/e is over.
Keith

As I already (hopefully) have all the material needed, a small documentation and a few pics won't be much work. After all, I'm not building a slide guitar, it's more like trying to come close to one. Good idea Leo! Paul, by the way, are you going to sing that hymn in its original language ?

Well this has to be an excuse for me to do a bit of shameless self publicising. - Apart from enjoying the company of my family and watching the new episode of Dr Who, I'll be singing sea shanties with the group 'Steerage Class' - one of hundreds of shanty crews performing at the Ellesmere Port Boat Museum Shanty Festival over the Easter weekend. We're singing on the Friday and Saturday afternoon but the event is on Friday to Monday (and the museum is a fun visit in its own right as well). I'll be playing a bit of guitar too - I'm trying to encourage the belief that sailing ships not only had a shanty man, but a guitar man too. Then on Sunday afternoon I'm playing and singing with Root Chords, the acoustic rock n roll band, at the Nantwich Jazz and Blues Festival, which also happens right through the Easter weekend. ..........It's all going on in Cheshire you know...........

Ha, typical! I spent my teenage years a couple of miles from Nantwich, and launched my musical "career" (pause for ironic laughter)in that area. And now you tell me it's all kicking off there! I must have been ahead of my time!! Sounds like a great w/e in prospect Graham - have a grand time, hope it all goes well - maybe you might report back afterwards...? Keith

Well, I've spotted the first chocolate eggs lying around the house, and one or two Lindt Bunnies, so it's safe to say I will be mostly doing this:
