Hi, just wondering if there is anyone on here that's had any experience with keefe guitars? I'm just in the middle of considering ordering a custom build. Regards dave.

No experience of Keefe Guitars but quite a lot about Taran Guitars.
Highly recommended! Rory's a top bloke and makes wonderful instruments.
Give him a call...
The whole custom build thing is a great experience - hope you enjoy it!

Good morning n thanks for ur reply. This custom build thing is very new to me. I own lot of high end/expensive guitars but I've never bought/ordered one than I've never played or the idea of ordering a custom build scares me a little but at the same tame excites me to to.

For me, it really helps to get to know a builders "sound" and ethos by playing as many of their instruments as possible before commissioning from them. Talk to other players of their instruments (and play them) and get the benefit of "how it was for them".
If you have a fairly strong idea of the sound you're after, and the uses to which the instrument will be put, it might narrow down your choice of builder. eg some builders have a bias towards fingerstyle guitar, others towards flatpicked/strummed instruments. Not that they can't come up with good all-rounders, or good instruments not in their usual styles, but if you really are embarking on this custom thing then the more practical research you do, the greater your chance of ultimate satisfaction. (ooer!)

Probably a dreadnought style. The thing that im finding with makers like collings keefe is that they make such a small number of guitars that it's hard to find people who own then? The last time I spoke to collin I asked him if he knew of any of him guitars in my area. He has hooked me up with a guy not to far away who has just got a custom order from him. So I'm hoping to go n meet him n have a look at his guitar.

I found it was pretty important to settle on a builder who lived near enough to me so that I could visit and get to know him a bit!
