A bit of advice needed ladies and gents. I've been playing the Alexander seated till now but will soon be needing to use a strap for standing. The shape of the endpin jack means the strap doesn't feel secure. I've checked a number of sites for strap locks but don't want to buy something in the hope that it will do the job, I want to know that it will do the job hence the question.
I presume you use a strap at times Keith playing your Alex. I don't remember what electrics you've got but I imagine the endpin is a similar shape to mine (Headway). Or is it ?
All advice welcome.
John

I got some from Elderly Instruments on Wild Violet 's recommendation. They're really secure. I'll put up a link when I'm not on my tablet. They do a different type for different sizes of strap button.

John Yes John, I play all my guitars standing up regularly. All have endpin jacks (which come with K&K pickups) and although the recess for the strap is not very deep I haven't had any problem. The ones I use look very similar to those on the Headway site - shallow recess and not v deep flange to retain the strap. Most straps won't fit over an endpin jack socket without some enlargement of the strap hole - but this does need to be done carefully so that the strap is still not especially easy to get on the endpin - and remember that it will "ease" as the strap softens with repeated use. I'm not convinced there'd be room to use a straplock, so it's just as well I don't seem to have a problem! Maybe the hole in your strap is too large, John? Most of my standing up playing is done plugged in though, and I always use right angled jack leads so the jackplug itself forms a safety net in case of untoward strap related incidents. You could very simply use a right angled jack (removed from its lead)as a straplock when playing acoustically, though this will still use your pickup battery as soon as it is plugged in. Not sure this is much help really! Keith

This is what I use and I wouldn't be without one now, everything else I've tried has not been nearly secure enough. The Grolsch bottle type rings kept popping off standard jack and endpins, making them completely useless for the job. Tapastring make a smaller "strapkeeper 2" version which might be the answer for a regular endpin but I can't comment on those, as I've only used the standard version with endpin jacks. Many thanks for the replies all. Good idea about the right angled jack Keith, although not very nice looking and a drain on the battery. WV's Strapkeeper suggestion looks very good, and with scorpiodog's recommendation also I think i'll go for those. This site is a goldmine. Brilliant help as always. John

Those Strapkeepers look interesting. I've only ever used Hose Washers from the hardware store, albeit with success. Possibly the lower budget nature of my guitars makes me more lackadaisical! Mark

These are very secure although they have a habit of coming loose from time to time. Keep them tightened. I find I don't need them if the studio fizzed on the base of the hell rather than on the back.
