Hi,
As some may recall I run a guitar group of oldies for my local U3a. This is in Ravenshead Notts (halfway between Nottingham and Mansfield). There are about 15 in the group, many who were beginners a few years ago and some who'd played before. It's a fun group but we treat it seriously as well and actually do the odd performance now (odd being a good word!). It's very rewarding to see people who could only previously listen to music actually having a chance to play in their '3rd life'.
I have been thinking that it would be great for them to see how guitars (and possibly other instruments) are made. The various posts from the Luthiers on the Forum show the different stages and tools needed as well as skill. Thus my questions are
--is anyone out there who makes guitars in reasonable travel distance from us? --if not does anyone know anyone?
Whilst it would be good for someone to come to us I guess we would need to do the travelling. Depending on when it could be arranged, holidays etc, then perhaps there might be anywhere between 5 and 15 of us, possibly for an hour? Whilst I don't see this as a 'sales' opportunity it would nevertheless be very interesting for my learners.
Any ideas welcome.
Regards
John

Thanks Keefe, err sorry, Keith! (He's not your cockney twin is he?).
Looks like he's in south Nottingham so I'll put him on a list to contact.

Adrian Lucas is not far away in Lincoln, and he is good at that kind of thing.

Thanks guys for your input; I'll check out with my group and then make contact with one of the suggestions you've made.
