or Case Acquisition Syndrome! Does anyone else suffer from this? Looking round my 'guitar room' (garage with books, cds, DVDs and shelves full of junk, and a few guitars crammed into the corner), I discovered that I now have three SPARE cases. I don't particularly want to sell them either as I can always justify to myself why I need a particular case (gig bag here, but deffo a hard case there). Never thought I'd be worried about this sort of thing So, do I have a problem? How do I decide which cases/bags I actually need?

You are looking at this the wrong way: three empty cases provide three new GAS opportunities. There is no such thing as a spare case, only a missing instrument.

Given that people are resorting to sleeping in dustbins you could probably sublet them

Yes I have 7 Calton cases, 2 Hoffee and 2 Ameritage plus numerous others. Just so long as they all have the appropriately priced guitars in them.... I'm down to 3 guitars, their cases and a gig bag. Guess which gets used the most!

I seem to have acquired quite a collection of gigbags over the years, mostly Warwick Rockbags for banjo and mandolin. Couldn't resist a nice Hiscox found in a local charity shop, which is now home to an inherited 12-string probably worth less than the case. Incredibly, I could not find an off-the-shelf case for my latest instrument, but a Casio keyboard case I found on ebay should suffice once I have refitted the interior: I'm at the stage where I've got all the bits I need to finish the job, probably in about 6 months time.
