Haha! Same thing happened to me a few years back - I have put them in all my instruments now! And done a fair few for friends. Makes a lot of sense to have the same pickups in each instrument, esp passive ones. Then, if you like using a preamp you only have to buy the one.

I also did the same thing a few years ago, with the Pure Western. Not only does it sound great but it was easy to install too. Unfortunately, all my other acoustics have pickups installed.

Sounds great with or without the Baggs DI.

I think it is high time that K n K paid for the maintenance of this site... And Newtone might chip in a bit too ...

I do love the Newtone Master Class strings. We could try and blag discounts for advertising their products.

Spent ages a few years ago researching passive pick-ups. Now have K&Ks fitted in Fylde Oberon, Fylde Orsino 12 and a wonderful old Harmony Sovereign I use mainly for bottleneck. They're slowly taking over.

K&K are now the only pick-ups I fit. Since I started stocking them I have had few requests for anything else.

Trevor TAMCO You fitted a McIntyre Feather in a Moon 10-string bouzouki that I bought from you a few years ago. That was a nice pickup. I don't think I ever saw them on sale anywhere else in the UK. They never seemed to get the profile that the K&K has.

I'm waiting for the Dimarzio Black Angel Piezo to FINALLY turn up in shops. Think that ones going to be a good contender for what seems to be the K&K top spot

Mornin' 1more4theroad and welcome to the Forum - hope you'll enjoy yourself here. Why not say Hi to everyone and tell us a little about yourself in the Introductions Section? Keith

They never seemed to get the profile that the K&K has. Martin Simpson has at least one guitar which uses a McIntyre Feather as a second pickup to one of his Highlanders. I think PRS might be using this as a 'branded solution'. Al Petterway uses Feathers. Never knowingly heard one myself. I had a Headway installed in my latest guitar and I am very impressed with that ... ... I do use Newtone Masterclass strings though :-)

Yes, for the guitars I make I'll only fit the K&K, if a customer wants a different pickup, well he can get someone else to fit it! No, the customer isn't always right, I find that usually they need their opinions steered in the right direction! I'm going to fit the classical K&K into James Daubney's guitar, it'll be a first for me in a nylon string guitar. Colin

I never used one in a guitar, but it was excellent on the bouzouki - very clean and natural sound.

Never one to go with the flow, I'm pretty disappointed with the K&K as fitted in my Lowden. I'm putting it through a Headway mini pre-amp into an Acus One 8 and no matter how I adjust the EQs I find the bass just too boomy. By contrast, my Breedlove with its L.R. Baggs Element Active VTC sounds an absolute dream.
I suspect that there's something distinctive about the acoustics of the S series of Lowdens that doesn't lend itself to this particular pick-up.
