I don't know if that's the technical term, but check out the end of this fine John Smith recording when he hits that final G chord. Any tips on how it's achieved?

Just smack the strings sharply with right hand first finger at fret 12 whilst left hand is fingering a 320003 G chord. You'll get harmonics for the open strings, plus or minus the notes for the fingered strings depending on exactly which strings and how hard you hit...and how lucky you are. Experiment with exactly where you hit and and how hard and see what you get. I really like John Smith. Keith

Have you seen this Keith - gets a really nice tone from his Fylds's
Not keen on his vocal style though particularly on this - ie the high bits

Yes, that's a lovely vid Phil. And I too prefer his voice when he doesn't squawk too much!

I just need the bruises to go down Thanks Keith.

I really like John Smith. Keith So do I. There's more than a hint of John Martyn about him. And he proves that you can manage perfectly well with two picking fingers.
