I've been writing stuff for 30 odd years and have amassed loads of books of lyrics and tunes. Granted some of the stuff I wrote when I was 15 is a bit angst, but the odd one or two aren't bad. It would be nice to hear someone make a tune out of something I've written. I've never heard someone play one of my songs. A sharing thread could be a good idea as it not only gives others easy material, but is nice to hear someone use your stuff. Thoughts?

Not a bad idea. Id be happy to have a look at some of them. I'm always happier with tunes!

This has been floating about for years. I wrote it after watching a documentary about the early settlers in America. It's about how they set off not knowing if they'd ever get there alive. Even if they did, they were often riddled with disease and malnourishment. Anyhoo, see if anyone can make a tune out this.
Come wake me stormy morning do show me where I'm bound to leave this land behind me cast onwards till I'm found to shake the hand of fate my dear till we are safe and sound sleeping under darkened skies now we are silent now
I'll cast aside a fair worn smile these useless eyes don't see and I'll take this sword to those who know what curse is ailing me i will stand before the gates at dawn now light does make me breathe and only now can i recall where lies my destiny
The raven calls me to the shore to leave this world behind to fall before the sands of time I'd never wished to find now lights my way as i lie blind in darkness i am mine and only now can we recall when life begins to shine
