Hi,
I've just been able to book for Paul Simon at Nottingham Arena in November. Looking forward to it as I was supposed to see him and Sting last April and had to cry off.
How do you guys and gals find getting good tickets is like. I find it exceptionally frustrating and a farce.
We are on the Arena 'priority booking list' which means that we get notification of upcoming shows and the opportunity to book tickets 24 hours before they go on sale to the public. So for this gig the public booking office did not open until this morning at 9.00 a.m. The priority booking was available via a link they sent at 9.00 yesterday. We logged on at 9.00 exactly, searched for best seats and found that all of the first 40+% of seats on the floor were gone as were most of the seats in the best 3 blocks either side. Best ones available were more then half way away from the stage in a huge arena. We also rang the booking office and asked why there were no better seats when we were on priority booking and just got fobbed off.
Out of interest, in the first 5 minutes of priority booking opening, I logged on to viagogo site. Surprise surprise, they had around 40 tickets available in better seats areas than we could get. Some, in the floor 4th and 5th rows were available for around £270 (face price £72).
This is pretty much always the case for top acts. What can be done to stop it?
(I also find that if you go onto say Ticket Master booking and key in for best seats, they are often rubbish; but when you can get through to a box office they have much better seats; do venues presell the poorer seats on sale or return to the ticketing sites and the punter gets the rubbish when they use these sites?
The public are victims of the whole system and its not the venue or the artist that is getting the excess profit but people working the system, which is clearly broken.
Rant over!! I'll enjoy the show anyway.
Gordon Lightfoot at Birmingham next week; ROW 3!!!!! I hope he's packed his zimmer to get on and off the stage ....
