So did I. He mentioned Topsham. It's just outside Exeter and has a good folk night on Sunday nights. I think he's recorded this in the converted barn next door to the pub that they use for bigger concerts. The backdrop looks wrong though.

I enjoyed it too - an engaging way to open a gig. I usually just ask those at the back if the sound is OK after a song or two, very boring!
What it didn't tell you though, was how long it took to actually soundcheck in the empty room before he began his "five minute soundcheck" with the full room - the latter started from an already, or very nearly properly set up state and he just tweaked each knob up and down either side of the already correct/almost correct setting to check/finely adjust each one.
I expect he has default settings as a starting point for the "proper" soundcheck, but even then I bet he spent quite some time on twiddly knobage before the punters arrived to get everything as good as poss.
