Hi Everyone! I started a blog about my journey learning to play the guitar. Not too many posts yet, but I'm having fun writing about it. Here is the link if anyone is interested... My journey learning classical guitar

I'll enjoy reading that. I couldn't get the hang of your Instagram thing but this is so much more straightforward.

That is a very good blog indeed Julie and I enjoyed reading it! I don't know how anyone can their thoughts on guitar in a logical enough order to blog about it - I'm speaking as someone who just has random totally disorganised thoughts about everything guitar. I could identify with a lot of what you said. Like the matter of luck in how successful getting that first guitar is. I think it's only after about 3 years of playing just acoustic that I've started to feel I have any idea of what it is to look for in a new acoustic guitar - sad that, because money priorities mean I'm unlikely to be getting (m)any more over the future years. Your second blog was interesting but out-with my field of concern / experience. Performing is not an issue for me, as I don't, and don't want to. But your idea of playing in the open air public setting was a good idea. You would I guess have better weather for that solution than applying it here in "sunny" Scotland. You rang real bells with the suggestion that struggles with practice equals work. Goals are tricky things, and I don't have much belief in them at all as a solution to anything. There are most definitely very major issues with having too many goals. For goals to work you need to be able to organise your thoughts and aspirations into something coherent but your blogs show you can do that. The older I get the less I obsessively log progress in anything. Partly down to strong feelings that it'll just end up as a catalogue of errors leading up to eventual failure. Mark

Thanks for the comments everyone - particularly your detailed responses Mark - one of my strengths (I have all too few, so have to talk about them to prove to myself I'm not a total disaster) is consolidating disparate ideas into a logical whole. This of course makes me seem way more organized than I actuslly am. However sometimes writing about things does tend to help me figure out where I am and what I should do next.
I just put up a non- comprehensive post about e-newsletters - maybe I will tackle books next... Of course that means I would have to read them first!
