After being with Acoustic since the first issue to today, i have decided to leave the magazine. It has been yet again taken over by another owner and although i was offered a new contract, i decided to look for challenges new. The current Editor Steve Harvey is also leaving and going to work for Martin guitars. He told me that the magazine may be changing policy again to concentrate on the youth market and i felt that my input would be better served elsewhere. I don't know one young musician in my town that buys printed magazines as they prefer instant short visuals freely available online. I have enjoyed some great times with the mag, especially in the early days when it had a far wider appeal across the age groups and the content was far more interesting. Plus of course, when the original forum was linked to it ! Anyway ... Onwards and wherever. Thanks to anyone who had enjoyed my contributions to the mag over the years. I'm still very active in designing and releasing guitars via Vintage with 2 new models on the way this year and more on the way in 2017. And of course still playing and running the Llyn Guitar Festival, now in it's 5th year.
Best,
Paul (Brett)

I have always found your articles interesting. I had in any case decided that this years is my last subscription to the mag. Cheers Phil

There's barely any reason left to buy the mag then, esp as Steve is leaving too. Thanks Paul for your contributions to the mag over the years and for championing the "old" Forum right up to its murder. All the best for your future projects.

I stopped even reading the mag for free in Smiths when they messed us about with the forum, but Paul's articles and columns were a main reason for reading. It just goes to show they literally have no idea of the audience they are catering for? Surely you'd target an audience that likes a physical magazine AND has money to spend?
Perhaps we need to spin off into the publishing world and make a magazine that offers useful information about musical instruments and blend it with tales of how anusol saved the day, lawnmower reviews, plus pictures of Thereas May's footwear?

True, but we need to talk about guitar players' hats too.

So there is or was a magazine for acoustic guitar, I live just outside Chester Cheshire and find it hard to get a copy or is it an online type? Its a print magazine called ACOUSTIC. Has been on the go for a good while now, but most of us here are now a bit disillusioned with it. there are other acoustic guitar mags as well, such as ACOUSTIC GUITAR and THE FRETBOARD (I think).

WH Smith or maybe a larger supermarket with a magazine section, or perhaps online from the publisher.

Cool where can I get a copy please Subscriptions to Acoustic hereAt £4.95 an issue in the shops it's a fair saving on subscription. I've only just recently renewed mine, but if I'd know about what Paul has said about I probably wouldn't have renewed. There's very little magazine material for acoustic guitar players though. Mark
