I have recently been given a Kimbara dreadnought acoustic guitar and I'm in the process of changing her from a lefty to a righty and was wondering if anyone knows from the model number the age of my guitar please? Number 23

As far as I remember, Kimbara guitars were around during the 1970s, plus or minus a few years either side.
Kimbara was not a specific maker, but a brand name owned by FCN (UK distributors) who sourced their instruments from various factories in Japan.

I remember Kimbara electrics. Some of them weren't bad, actually. Strat style, usually.

Keith I have number 23 I take it that means it was the 23rd dreadnought acoustic they made, therefore I have a early 70,s guitar!!?

... I think 23 was not an individual serial number, but part of the model designation, though I may be incorrect. They certainly made classical guitars beginning with 23T, so presumably the subsequent letters designate the body style etc.
