Sounds good. Carthy is an extraordinary entertainer with many emulators. Not quite as many as Elvis, perhaps, but I've been to a club which had two Martin Carthys before the interval and four after that. Could have been the real ale, of course. Good night lined up for tomorrow, at the Last Thursday club; www.artscoritani.com/news.htm

Just had a phone call from the Marlowe, Martin has lost his voice so the gig is cancelled, but has been re-booked for 3rd March.

That's a shame, Colin. Hope he recovers for the re-scheduled gig. I hadn't listened to much of his stuff before I saw him play a few years ago, and he blew me away with his music, singing and overall technique. His vocal accompaniment style is unusual, but fantastic - a real gent to talk to as well

He's the guy that really turned me on to folk guitar, him Bert Jansch and Davy Graham were my main influences. I actually booked all three of them several times to play at the club I used to help run back in the day. I'm a great Norma Waterson fan as well, and let's face it their offspring ain't too bad either.

Kris Drever tomorrow night at Resolis Hall. It's deep in the darkest bit of the Black Isle (which isn't even an Isle.)
Golf followed by curry then Resolis.
Brilliant.
Unfortunately, I'll be coming off night shift so staying awake may be problematic.
Perhaps a nap on the golf course...?
Saw Martin Simpson at the same place last year.
Pity it's seventy-odd miles away though...
Bugger.

My main instrument is: probably needing new strings

I'm off to see Ange Hardy tonight in Stockport. The gig's sold out - but I reckon there were only about 30 tickets anyway - the venue is quite small

That's bound to be a bit good! Phil is one of my favourite performers - say 'hello' to him from me if you get the chance (not that he'll have the foggiest idea who I am!). Is that a picture of Phil adding some lead riffs to you singing further down the page, colan? And I see Wild Violet is the guest the following month!

Yes, Wild Violet is our guest for April and that's Phil adding some tasty rock'n roll lead for ol' baldy. I'll certainly direct him to your sound pages, Leo, at some point after the gig.
