Don't know whether you've all seen details of this new festival organised by Kate Rusby in July. Unfortunately I can't go that w/e but looks good with artists like Kate herself, Richard Thompson, John Smith.

Off to Sibsey this arvo to support Big Phil Biggs and ' Between the lines ' at the new White Hart Sunday folk gig; Lincolnshire is rather keen on preserving active WW2 aircraft. It's good to see new venues popping up. I'm actually taking my 30 watt acoustic guitar amp. to this one. I've never played in a pub on a Sunday afternoon but I have this strong feeling that folk won't be following any evening concert etiquette ! I might even take a ........plectrum !

Not a gig as such, but local lass Elizabeth Padgett puts out ' Tulip Radio ' folk station for a couple of hours on Tuesday nights 7- 9pm. It's on right now as it happens; tulip-radio.co.uk/listento/EDIT; Alternate weeks, apparently. Liz Padgett runs the Spalding Folk Club every first Wednesday of the month.

So, with Daughter #1 now installed as the archivist at the Royal Manchester College of Music she is able to get a 'staff discount' on tickets for artistes who perform there. There's a lot of classical recitals but an occasional folk/acoustic act gets a look in which is how come I'm going to see 'Megson' later this month. Can't say I know a great deal (i.e. bugger all) about them but it's worth £2 just for a night out

Great singing. But they both should have gone for a wee before making the video I think. Enjoy the night, Leo!

I just come across this morning. There is the Celtic connections festival which is going to start tomorrow I'm Glasgow area. It Has a fair few names that I have recognised. The list is massive I will post a link once I have access to a pc but if you google artists for Celtic connections you should be fine.
I've just booked next week off and will hopefully see Tommy emmanuel and Preston reed. Also ticket prices are not too shabby.

I'm actually off to see Martin Carthy tomorrow (29th January) at the Marlowe Studio, Canterbury. I first went to see him in 1967, which only goes to show that we are both getting old.
