Just wondered if anyone had played or even owns one of these ?
I don't know the owner personally, and I certainly haven't posted to plug his builds in any way. I came across the place as I deliver to a shop in Alford, Lincs, twice a week, and I actually park outside to have my morning tea break/snack lol ! I thought it was an interesting building, like an old church, and then noticed a battered sign advertising his name. So I googled and saw he has a website, with some very nice gypsy jazz style guitars...

I have never played on anything like those, but am fascinated as to what they sound like.

I used to want one of those so badly once upon a time. I have a gypsy jazzer and used to play in that style a lot. Rarely do these days, sadly - although I still listen to it a lot. Love me some Django!

John is my 'local' luthier and I have used him for years for setups and repairs. I think his shop was an old chapel. He learned his trade from his father and I gather his guitars are very highly thought of. He's always done first rate work as far as my guitars are concerned, and his prices are very reasonable. He's a lovely guy as well.

Back in the day (late 70's), when I was making guitars for the London Guitar Gallery, Jon used to visit and sell some of his own work via the Gallery. So, I was in the fortunate position to see/play many of his guitars; they were outstanding and inspirational to a young luthier.

I have never played on anything like those, but am fascinated as to what they sound like. I've only come across one of his more conventional, acoustic guitars. As you say, he makes some lovely looking, Gypsy Jazz style guitars. These types of guitars usually have a pronounced middle, to their tone. Kind of dry and punchy, to cut through a group of instruments. Listen to Django Reinhardt, for some idea.
