HI All, I'm building an archtop guitar at the moment and I'm going to need a Sacconi adjuster for the tailpiece. I need it 8½ inches 215mm in length (approx) which I think is the same as a cello but not sure. Searching UK sites has not been very successful - a few in the USA. It's essentially a gut/nylon/composite cord where each end is fixed to the tail piece with a loop round the strap pin (think violin/cello), rather than the fixed metal ones usually found on archtops. If you know of anywhere selling these can you let me know. Meanwhile search continues... Thanks Francis
Funnily enough, I was actually put on to these state-of-the-art bits of string by threads (yes, threads) in a vioin/cello/bass-players' forum where some players were dissatisfied with the performance of sacconi adjusters because they can be a bit "soft and springy", which is obviously not what you want. They seemed to think that kevlar and other modern non-stretch cords did a better job.

newdave: I bought a Lyle Lovett album from a charity shop. Just put it on. This guy is great. How have I never heard his music before? Mind. Blown. If I was Julia Roberts I'd have ridden him till his wheels fell off.
