Having made a banjo-bouzouki with a five string banjo neck on a slightly smaller version of my octave mandolin body it seemed logical to try using the same body with a bouzouki neck - an Irish bouzouki or in this case a Bucks Bouzouki So here is “Ceol Binn Muineál Fada” (meaning “Sweet Long Neck Music” and pronounced “Kayol bin may-nol far-da”): I wanted to use just two woods so the back, sides, neck, braces, linings and blocks are Lawson's Cypress from the "Magical Musical Tree" that grew in my front garden and the head-plates, bindings, fingerboard, arm-rest, soundport, bridge, nut, saddle, end-graft, heel cap and neck strap pin are Cocobolo. Tuners are Gotoh mandolin and it has a K&K pickup and brass tailpiece. Scale length is 630mm. Here's a recording from it with “Ceol Binn Muineál Fada” used for backing and melody with some doubling up from the Road Trip mandolin "Ceol Binn Taistealaí"(I've posted it on the Plucky Duck as well where you can learn more about the tunes): "Daithi's World/Nina's Jig

It's a Bou-eauty! Lovely work, gorgeous woods and very fancy purfling too. I can't hear it properly due to being in hell at work, but it's a proper (Irish style) 'zouk, teardrop shape and all

Cracking! It sounds as good as it looks. Two very good tunes and I especially like Daithi's World.

This is beautiful. It sounds great - lovely balance, with really sweet trebles. Just the way a 'zouk should sound!

Very nice. Very nice indeed. I almost recognise "The Tree" wood now. As for the name, are you sure it's not pronounced "Colin's been a menial father"? And are you being fair to Colin?

Thanks Martin, Keith, Brian, Mark, Simon and Rob. As for the name, are you sure it's not pronounced "Colin's been a menial father"? And are you being fair to Colin? The 'zouk has spoken
