I'm not sure if this was posted. I'm sorry for any redundant topic. As a Mike Oldfield fan, I really enjoy his new Return to Ommadawn! I thought it will be a close work to the original Ommadawn but it's quite different, in fact. Positive: a return to the old stuff after his orchestra compositions and pop oriented songs in the previous albums. This album has some beautiful acoustic parts. Negative: some electric parts, which were the weakness in Mike's albums, IMHO. Anyway, how do you see this album? PS. Sorry for any typos or grammar errors Regards from an always sunny but today rainy Lisbon, Pedro

I am a huge fan of Mike Oldfield. My elder brother had most of his albums when I was growing up, and they were always on the record player. Later, I too enjoyed Tubular Bells (the David Bedford orchestral version as well as the original and best), but Ommadawn was my absolute favourite. I think it is where my love of folk music has come from. It was the first time I heard the Uellian pipes. I totally wore out my cassette copy. Will investigate this new album. Its interesting your comments about his electric guitar playing, as that was the thing I have always enjoyed the most about Oldfield. The fact he plays the electric finger style as well fascinated me. Loved his tone. I even loved some of his pop stuff- Moonlight Shadow and Five Miles Out are brilliant songs for me Robbie

When I mentioned the parts he plays on electric guitar, I mean those parts with that distortion and not the clean, even the reverbed or delayed ones, which I really enjoy, too 😉
