So sad. I know he's not been that well lately. He was such a lovely man who really promoted folk music, a great loss.

I met him once a couple of years ago when we were his support at a local club.
A nicer, kinder, more pleasant man, would be hard to imagine. Also a damn fine guitar player who wrote devastatingly good songs and delivered them with aplomb and good humour.
RIP Vin. The world is a poorer place without you.

That's very sad news. It must have been the late 60's when I first saw him at the local folk club. He was one of the favourites there over the years. A very funny man who wrote some powerful songs too. I saw him last year at a private party. He was as entertaining as ever and reminded us that he was one of the best tin whistle players of all time. RIP Vin.

He was the hit of the first Sidmouth Festival I went to, helping to make a week that could have been ruined by torrential rain a success with his inventive humour, catchy songs and musicianship. I saw him many times after that, and came away with that glow you get from a great gig every single time. A life well lived.

How very sad. I recall seeing him a lifetime ago, when he was called the "Young TIn Whistle Pest".

I saw him perform but never got to meet him. Loved his introductions, his songs and his ad libs.

I'm sure I remember first hearing Vin Garbutt on the John Peel radio oh so many years ago. A fine musician and the world is less musical for his passing. RIP.
