You can read the latest issue of Babbling Brook, the magazine that Martin Bell and I (though much more of Martin it has to be said!) have put together for Brook guitars: www.brookguitars.co.uk/Its worth having a look if just for the superb article (not mine!) on the art of inlay. Also, Simon has some excellent advice on adjusting the truss rod. Hope you enjoy it! Robbie

Another stunning and professional production - congrats to all involved. All good stuff, but I especially enjoyed the interviews. Keith (PS - The font used in the body of the text isn't, for me, the most legible - this may be in part a result of having to wear an old pair of specs, having lost my proper ones somewhere in the garden yesterday. Something with a greater thickness of line would save me having to magnify the page so much that much scrolling is required. )

I really enjoyed both editions of the magazine. More professional in terms of content, literacy and style than other guitar mags I could mention. A credit to all concerned.

Great read Robbie... thanks for posting about it. I'm interested in the info on truss rod adjustment and shimming the saddle to get the the correct action. Does this mean that Brook guitars generally leave the shop with very low action and that you'd only ever need to raise is with shims rather than lowering it by sanding the saddle? The only Brook I ever played had wonderful low action and was a breeze to play

Enjoyed that Robbie.
There are some great pictures for this month's builds too. The matching 6&12 string cutaway Lyns looks stunning.

This makes sense as its an adjustment that all players can make very easily. EWH- yes, I am particularly taken with the cutaway lyns in the picture this month. I'm gassing at the thought of the 12 string one in particular. I don't know of anyone else who builds 12 fret 12 strings, but it makes sense to me. Brooks' Little Silver 12 strings are also quite magical as well. Robbie

Robbie, There's the Paul Brett Vintage 12 String, there are some Leadbelly repro's the Fraulini being regarded the best of them, a Dell Arte one which isn't supposed to be amazing. Also the Martin D-12-20/35 are some of the ones I've found. I personally think the normal 14 fret Tavy body size would make the best body for a 12 string guitar, as that's the one which is closest to the Guild Jumbo body size, which I reckon are the best sounding 12's I've played. I think a smaller bodied 12 fret would make a great sounding blues guitar, but a larger body would be great. I personally think the 14 fret 12 string on a Jumbo body is very beautiful! Just came upon this Made from Katalox, which is a Mexican Ebony of sorts. I'd have been intrigued to what that would have sounded like... EWH

I played a Brook 12 string a couple of weeks back when I was down for my gig- I believe it was a Tavy, but it may have been a Tamar. Either way it was as easy playing as a 6 string and absolutely glorious. Robbie

I agree about the Lyn cutaways - I think they are very tasteful and more often than not indicate that the owners have good taste and refinement . (Should be a big grin smiley here but can't find them - using my IPod Touch). Phil
