What is the motivation for changing tuners? When I acquired it the guitar came with a mismatched set of 5 original 1970s Yamaha tuners & one modern rotomatic type one, which always annoyed me, but not enough to start mucking around with it. Then, when one of the tuning keys kept falling off, it seemed like it was time for a full new set - particularly as it's one of two guitars I play on stage & being able to rely on it is pretty important to me.

Ah, good reason for changing!

What is the motivation for changing tuners On one occasion a tuner broke on a very old guitar. The tuners weren't very good in the first place, so I put a new set on. The second occasion was a guitar which had really cheap, nasty tuners on it, making it hard to tune. I was gigging with it and needed something more reliable, so I put some Grovers on it.
