Judging by his talk about watching waves on the ocean and coming up with this idea I would hypothesise that the theory behind this bracing is that the V provides structural strength whilst allowing the sides of the top to vibrate more evenly without the 'bounce back' from the extra bracing on an X style brace - if you imagine the top of the guitar was a pool of water with ripples emanating from the bridge, think of all the little waves that would bounce back from an X brace versus this new V brace... If you imagine the top of a guitar as a pool of water then I think you ought to get out and make more guitars - but make sure you thoroughly waterproof your workshop first. Personally I prefer to think of the top of a guitar as Brigitte Bardot's chest No I don't . . . must remember to keep taking the tablets Actually with all those "bouncing waves" I'm looking forward to the "Barnes Wallis Dambusters" variant on this bracing now too

I'm not really sure if this comment is supposed to be constructive or just a way of saying I don't know what I'm talking about...

If you understand in all its detail the physics of how an organic material (wooden guitar top) responds to an organic stimulus (human being playing it) then you'll know if you are correct or incorrect - I don't. I have no idea about your knowledge, qualifications or experience so couldn't possibly accuse you of what you say and wouldn't dream of doing so.

EDIT - I'm not removing this post as I feel it would be dishonest of me, but I just want to say sorry to davewhite for needlessly taking offence, been a bit off in mood this week and I allowed myself to get my back up when I needn't have. Let normal service continue!

Well, I will reserve judgment until I have played one but I can’t believe there will be a significant change in tone.
