I was very pleased to be invited to Riverman 's album launch this evening - and equally so that there were a number of other forum members coming along.
I got there at 5pm (as that was the time we were SUPPOSED to be there) and the room was already slowly filling up. I did, however, manage to snag a table which I thought would at least accommodate some of the forumites plus their better halves. There were snacks on the table when I got there - not so much when the others turned up...

The evening opened with a short set by Ragged Tree (one half of whom provided the female vocals on Richard's album). They were followed by The Huers - guitar, octave mandolin (and occasional tenor guitar and mandolin). I'm not sure how to pronounce their name... are they reformed prostitutes? Is it an homage to vomit? I don't know - they were bloody good though. So good I bought an album. No higher praise and all that.
I reckon Richard has sold out - he's getting all sorts of sponsorship deals by the look of things.

There was food. Butties and chips. dreadnought28 made it just in time for the buffet - clever boy...
I liked the way the bar closed during performances - a nice touch and kept chatter and extraneous noises to a minimum.
Richard himself (with various guests) completed the second half.
Phil Taylor won a raffle prize. As did Mrs geddarby , Alison. I didn't. I'm not bitter.
It was good to meet up with lavaman (and wife), Phil Taylor (and wife) and geddarby (and wife) and, of course, dreadnought28 . Sadly, someone had mistakenly told Psycho that it was fancy dress. He looked a dick but we didn't have the heart to tell him...
