The discussion about Stefan Grossman got me thinking more about Rory Block. If you haven't heard of her before try this:

She is phenomenal as a live performer. She was knocking around with Stefan Grossman in Greenwich Village when she was 14. There is a great interview with her around somewhere - will post it tomorrow.

Yep Phil. Go to her website and you can download her biography - fascinating.
In Europe she is considered to be a fine singer songwriter and he is good. These days she’s focusing on classic blues but she really is a talent.

She occasionally comes to the U.K. and plays at small venues. A stunning experience that is very intense.

Almost too much. She kept saying whoever is creeping about behind those stage curtains please go away. I have to say now though that I no longer enjoy her playing when she is thrashing it and never have been keen on slide unless done very tastefully. P

Yep. She is rather underestimated as a songwriter!
