Orfeo is a great free online magazine - this edition is dedicated to the development of classical guitar making in the UK. The other editions cover other countries and should be of interest to anyone interested in luthierie and classical guitars (with a bit of culture thrown in too). Jonny

Lovely photos. What do you read it on Jonny? - it's unreadable on my macbook air. I find that with all online magazines. Nigel Tenor Guitars

Jonny The classical guitar Kevin Aram built for me last year is the one pictured on pages 36-37 and 40-41 of the current issue 11! It's a beautiful-looking publication; the photography is right up there with The Fretboard Journal and Guitar Connoisseur Magazine...

Thanks, Jonny - which one is your Dean? And how’s it playing in?

Beautiful photos. Any idea how this magazine pays for itself? No adverts. You can buy paper copies, which few will...

Thanks, Jonny - which one is your Dean? And how’s it playing in? It's the one made from scraps with a less complex sound! The Kingham. I think those words must have been due to translation into French and then back to English. Chris is convinced that the Kingham model shows the same sonic attributes as his more expensive model and is just less less decorative. Mine was a prototype and has more detailing than the other Kinghams and better quality tuners (Scheller). I think the main difference is that the top is in three parts, so basically he used left over AAA grade wood that was too narrow to make a two piece top. Also it almost takes him as long to make one, so the cheaper model may not be justified. I'm in the process of making a video comparing it to a lattice-braced guitar by Paul Fischer (and perhaps a factory made guitar) and will post it this week some time. Jonny

Blimey, I just saw my life flash before my eyes! I was at the LCF with both Chris Dean and Michael Gee- (a year below and above) and Kevin Aram sold some of his early guitars via the London Guitar Gallery where I had a bench and made classical and steel string guitars. What a lovely magazine. Thanks to jonnymosco for bringing it to our attention. Cheers Gary

Well, it's a beautiful instrument, Jonny, and look forward to your video! Just realised I should have put this video in this thread: my lattice Taut System Fischer (who is also featured in Orfeo) and the actual Dean in the photos recorded back-to-back. It seems, according to Orfeo, that Rubio was the start of the UK 'school' encouraged by Bream - Paul Fischer was his assistant, then all the others who studied with either... as garynava points out, the LCF played a major role too.

Not seen this before so thanks for referencing Jonny. I have one of Kevin Aram’s guitars. Seriously good.

I notice in one of the issues there's mention of a book compiled of the first issues. Be nice to get that but the link they provide doesn't work.
