Errmm. I know that I didn't pass my eleven plus (and my father's words still ring in my head) but how can a new guitar be a piano? I suspect that you members are having a private jest/joke.

It just means loud, with clear, separate notes....kinda like a piano At least, I *think* that's what Chris means!

Glad to see you've experienced the 'Steinway Effect' . Also good to know she's gone to a good home!
(@stanleyaccrington - in the original classified advert I likened playing this long scale guitar to 'having a grand piano on your knee' - the nearest I could get to giving an overall impression of the sound!)

I’ve remarked to Ralph many times over the years that all his guitars make me think of a huge piano chord. They are so full and so balanced. When I first met Kathy Wingert I told her that her guitars made me think of strings, as in violins, cellos etc. Remarkably I found out later that she apprenticed with a violin maker and was looking for that type of sound. I guess she found it.

dreadnought28 There is something in that. I'm always fascinated by where luthiers derive their influences. Years ago a friend here in Brum — why makes violins for the famous — begged me to commission a guitar from him. I'd seen some other instruments and they all felt and sounded like violins to me!
