For starters don't sit down like the guy in the photo - many people treat buskers as if they are sub-human, sitting on the ground just reinforces their lofty attitudes! Some of the points there are valid, but the busking laws here are very different than in the USA. No matter what "laws" (which they aren't, they just want you to think they can enforce them) the local council has passed regarding busking permits, etc, as long as you are on a public highway, you have the right to make "reasonable use" of it, which includes busking. The only places you cannot play without permission are on private property, Camden, and the London Underground. You don't want to block anyone's path and if you are asked to turn down your amp, you should do it or you may get a breach of the peace fine. Many cities have busking "codes" which are common sense and should for the most part be followed - i.e. not setting up too close to another busker, not blasting the town with your amp, not playing Wonderwall for 3 hours straight... There are various laws you need to memorise to defend yourself. Most police/PCSOs don't know them and think they can apply begging/vagrancy laws to buskers. You must stand your ground, stay calm, and engage in a peaceful dialogue. Most will eventually go away when they realise you know your rights and aren't going to leave unless they threaten to arrest you. I was just editing a video of my busking adventures from today
