Some of you will know I've just moved over to Australia. Well, I'm here but most of my gear is still in the UK. So what will I do for the next couple of months? I've decided to make a batch of ukes. A cross between the old Martin designs and my Session King work - which is plain, basic and loud. The newsletter lot found out yesterday, and a few orders have come in, but next on the list to tell is the folks on this forum. The ukes will have a mahogany body and a cedrela top, unless you fancy something a little fancier. The basic uke will be a soprano - but already I've had a couple of orders for long neck versions and a few more asking for them who are still to send their deposits. Imagine a tenor uke neck on a soprano uke body....nice. Let me know how you'd like it tuned - a soprano uke is the same scale as a mandolin. And these ukes are a fraction of the price of one of my mandolins. Now, as I mentioned in the newsletter- don't expect me to be making ukes in the future - I'm doing this now whilst my gear arrives. I've enough timber here, and a few basic tools to make a decent batch of these, but once the pallets arrive from the UK, I've got to get on with the regular order book. The price includes shipping from Oz. If you want to imagine what they'll look like, cross this: With this: And add a bit of this: And you'll get the idea. Anyway, ask any questions you have here, and drop me a iine via the site if you're interested and I can start making a mess on the kitchen table. Mrs F will be delighted!
