I spoke to davewhite at HB9 and had a really interesting conversation. Dave was first in the chair, so he had the disadvantage of being the interview from whose mistakes I learned in the following ones. Turns out Sony mirrorless cameras turn off after 30 mins' recording - I actually knew that, but still wasn't prepared. And the I hadn't pressed record on the iPhone properly either, so all you get is Dave's coupon for 30 minutes, then nothing. Still, it's a good listen. It's on YouTube and also available through all the usual podcast clients - Apple, Spotify etc. Thanks again Dave for being my first victim. I intend to post the bonus content that I recorded after we finished because Dave just kept on going until housekeeping knocked on the door!

Great interview Cams and davewhite . Agree with what you say. My policy over the last ten years has been not to purchase any tropical hardwoods, I have a few sets left to use up then I'll only be building with domestic woods and recycled wood from old furniture. The one exception could be East Indian Rosewood as this is grown as a renewable crop, and is planted as a wind break around most tea plantations, its cutting and processing is tightly controlled by the Indian and Sri Lankan governments. We do however have some great domestic woods, Dave's spalted beech guitar at HB9 was a revelation to me, walnut and yew make some of the best guitars you can have, the barrier we have to overcome is end user acceptance. Plus of course the supply of unwanted old brown furniture is plentiful and I'd sooner repurpose it into musical instruments than see it as landfill or being burnt.
Dave, I thought you looked your best over those last few minutes.

Fascinating stuff. So good to hear intelligent conversations rather than the more common stilted inquisitions. Well done both.

That was a truly fascinating conversation and very educational. I think these videos come across as informal and relaxed conversations between friends rather than 'interviews' which really adds to their appeal and makes them all the more enjoyable.

Started from begining with the podcasts and really enjoying them - up there with Fretboard Journal and Luthier on Luthier. Look forward to this one cropping up in the feed!

Great interview, chaps. Also appropriately reminiscent of our time in Halifax - every now and again everything went blurry Looking forward to the bonus content.
