Any recommendations for Acoustic Amps that don't have AER written on them?
I had one once and sold it, can't remember the name but I know it wasn't cheap at the time I bought it which would have been in the early 90's
Something else I let go and I now regret.

Well, depends what you're after, but I have a little Yamaha THR5A (read review on the forum here: acousticsoundboard.co.uk/thread/2874/yamaha-thr5a-acoustic-amp ) and more recently a Fishman Loudbox Mini. I love them both but I suspect the Fishman is more what you're after. It's the old version without the rechargeable battery. I absolutely love it - fantastic compromise of portability vs power with a really appealing warmth to the sound, very musical reverb and chorus and very good value (except for the optional cover, which is overpriced and rubbish - get the shop to throw it in for free). Hope that helps!

I would recommend the Bugera AC60. I use it all the time for busking and gigs (I also have an AER Compact 60 3) and simply love it.

I've got a Roland AC 60; though I'm not an expert in these matters and don't have any comparisons to offer, it has some nice features that work well for me. Seems to get good reviews - possibly a good comparator for the Fishman Loudbox if you set out to try a few John.
Must confess, I only use mine to play with my Boss loopstation.

I too have had a Roland AC60 and it’s a proven design that performs well. I only sold it because I bought dreadnought28’s Acus, which is superb. It’s horses for courses really - depends what you want it for. Those little Yamaha THR amps are great for home use.

The Yamaha THR5A appeals to me but the Fishman looks more like an AMP
Its only for home use, does not have to loud.

I'm in the same situation as you John and terribly indecisive but I think I am going to go for the Fishman Loudbox mini, the senior reviewer from Acoustic Magazine (Teja Gerken) plays through one on some of his reviews and it sounds really good.... plus not too pricey.

I've not heard any acoustic amp that sounded as good as an Acus. Simply the best IMO.

I have the Boss Singer live. They do a larger Singer Pro. Really good am, the sound is great. Also really good for singing with, has a looper built in and a really cool harmony feature that will in real time sing along with you, you can set it to sing an octave above or below you or harmonise at the same level. Loads of youtube vids out there

I've got a Schertler JAM 100. I'm no expert, but it does the job I want it to. Would be worth having a look at the Acoustic Guitar mag review which concludes "for purity of tone in this size/weight class, the JAM 100 is about as good as it gets". acousticguitar.com/schertler-jam-100-review/ . If you want something more for home use, I think they do a smaller 50watt GiuliaY. The only downside is that, like a lot of things, they're not cheap.
