During a bit of casual browsing the other day I spotted this "electro-acoustic"* archtop for £139. Surely at that price it can't be up to much? I've wanted a single pickup jazz guitar for a while, so I'm half tempted to get one just to see if it really is too-good-to-be-true. Anyone familiar with the brand? *it has a humbucker & a tone knob, I'm slightly confused as to how it qualifies as an electro-acoustic.

It sounds pretty reasonable in the video:

Looks like a must-have! Never heard of them either, but they seem to do loads of low-budget models.

Seems like only Dawsons carries this brand. A quick search gave one in TheftConverters for 120 quid and there's one on Gumtree for £160!!! Provided you have a desire for that type of guitar (I did, so I already have one - an Epiphone Emperor Regent)it's gotta be worth a try at that price, surely? A lot of the reviews say it needs tweaking to play right (but some don't which is a normal distribution thing, I suspect). Trouble is, if you buy by mail order, you are risking getting one at the back end of the normal distribution curve. If you can go to Dawsons and try a few, I guess that would be your best option. As to why they call it an electro acoustic -

Looks and sounds good. I have a 70s Shaftesbury (Ibanez) Barney Kessel copy that I love. Though, unfortunately, when I plugged it in last week, the bridge pickup was dead.

well, it sounds good in that video. There's not that much that can go wrong at that price!
