Enjoyed it but those teeth are really something else.
Read his autobiography last year (Wild Tales) and then read recently that he had split up with his wife of many years after gushing about her in the book. He said "I am 74 now and don't know how long I will be on this earth so its important that I am happy"...........

Phil, have a go. If you win, I can always rework the neck to a narrower nut for you. It's just a matter of unbolting the neck, reworking it, new nut and refinish, I'd be happy to do it, not a problem.

Sweet looking guitar colins - will it have a wide nut width say 46mm Colin? Phil Phil yes the nut width will be 46-47mm, it's my standard nut width on my steel strings.
Colin
Thanks Colin. Far too wide for me and as I suspected so that counts me out then. To be honest with some relief - not much into arrangement of other tunes but if it had been 44mm I would have been losing sleep thinking about it Cheers Phil

Hi Dale.
Partial capos are great for coming up with your own tunes and all I can tell you is the order of things that I did it in and which tunes came out of them. I started with a capo across 5 strings in standard leaving the bottom E - 'Whiddon Down' and followed by a partial capo across 4 strings the other way in dropped D which give a DADGAD effect which produced a few tunes - 'After Clouds, Sunshine', 'New Beginnings' and a few more.
I followed that with 'Indigo' which was in DADGAD with a partial capo on the 3rd fret covering strings 2, 3 and 4 and this was the first time I played behind the capo which I had seen Robbie Jessep doing and this led on to 'From Covington Wood' in Csus2.
I just got in to it gradually so I suppose that's the best way to go. I must say that basically all I did was stick them on and play around until something happens.
I know I keep mentioning @robbiej (I suspect Rob gets fed up of it actually ) - you should check his stuff out. His latest tunes both use a partial capo. These are 'Sally In The Woods' and the sublime 'The Lady In The Woods' which he played it for me in his lounge sat in exactly the same spot in the video and I recall I got goose bumps at the time and still do. Robs been a big influence.
Hope this helps.

Hi Dale - just got back from Spain as leoroberts was right Well, thanks very much Dale for your kind comments and I'm glad you found out what you needed. I would like to add that I first learnt a tune written by Rob Jessep called 'A Sunday Morning In January' which uses this tuning with a partial capo so its thanks to @robbiej for getting me into it. Cheers Phil

That looks great @robbiej and those tuners and headstock inlay set it off very nicely. Look forward to the finish going on Phil

Just to drag this up again, I've been re-reading everyone's comments about what a great device this is. There are reviews similarly singing its praises. The fact remains that if you have the guitar round your neck (my personal default position!) and clip the tuner to the headstock it's very difficult to read the display, surely a fundamental requirement. Am I missing something here? If you know something I don't, please enlighten me! Err... don't want to sound daft and also don't want to imply that you are daft so please forgive me if I does read like that but...... have you got the tuner body at right angles to the headstock and the clamp turned slightly on the headstock to the angle that you can see it like this? Well I like to play and polish my guitars - can't stand seeing any smears which I have to wipe off with a duster. I occasionally even use Gibson Pump polish (probably against luthier advice) so they positively sparkle and smell nice If they are on the wall hangers and I am doing some vacuum cleaning I like to vac the pegheads and below the strings above the bridge as well So yes you are a slightly bad guitar parent in my view Phil

This news is really upsetting. Pete always seemed a really nice guy and went through so much with his health issues.

I am considering playing my first solo open-mic this coming Thursday. I find the thought very scary! I wonder if any of you have advice for dealing with stage nerves, especially for a virgin solo performer Yours, in terror and trepidation, Mike I understand what you are going through - I have over the last few weeks (3 occasions) started taking my guitar to singers nights (take turns around the room - very informal in your own seat) at my local folk club and found it very nerve racking despite it being a very friendly atmosphere. I think I put pressure on myself but most of the others make mistakes i.e. forget words or chords and honestly nobody really cares as long as you have ago. In view of this I have been trying to think it's just a bit a fun and so far it has gone ok - no major cock ups and I intend to carry on trying. Everyone says the more you do it the easier it gets - that remains to be seen. Not sure what your open-mic is but Pauls advice above seems very good for a more formal get up on stage type of thing so I just wanted to wish you luck Cheers Phil
