davewhite - I reckon a translation is needed for the soundboard quote! "Summer, Summer, milk of the calves, We have brought the Summer in. Yellow summer of clear bright daisies, We have brought the Summer in." You can find out more here and here. Plus this of course:

The Walnut centre strips are glued in using hot hide glue: The brace behind the bridge-plate is then glued on the top: The spruce X brace cap is glued on using hot hide glue: Then the tone bars are glued on: Followed by the finger braces: The braces are carved and the top “voiced”. Then the top is signed and dated: Here’s the “voiced” top: The linings of the rim-set are notched for the ends of the top braces and the top glued on using fish glue:

Dave, this looks phantastic! Any chance to get her into my arms at HB6? Bernd, There's a distinct possibility - I may well be bringing it along to HB6.

The linings are notched for the Walnut side braces which are then glued in using hot hide glue: The side soundport is then cut: Then the Walnut brace for the strap pin screw is glued in: The 6mm carbon fibre flying buttress braces are then glued in: The pilot hole for the strap pin is drilled and the strap pin test fitted: Here’s the completed rim set: The Walnut X brace cap is glued on the back braces using hot hide glue: The braces are then profiled and the back “voiced”. Here’s the result: The linings of the rim-set are notched for the ends of the back braces and the back glued on using fish glue:

Martin, You can unclench your buttocks now. Looking good - well like a tenor uke Oh, I don't think he can unclench them yet, still got to rout for the bindings!

KR: I have always said that when I master and fully understand the steel-string flattop I will move on to other stringed instruments. Which is to say I will not ever be moving on to other stringed instruments. Poor thing

Martin, The H4N has three recording modes: Stereo - using the inbuilt microphones which gives you one track as an output. 4 Channel - you can plug in two extra microphones and you get one output track. Multi-track - this gives you four tracks to record to separately. Sounds like for your multi instruments you'd use the multi track function but you could use the 4 channel or stereo mode to record the two guitars and input this as one track of the multi-track mode to add other tracks to. Or lots of other things too The Zoom H4N is a great piece of recording kit.

Just for clarity, does this additional piece still need to be original, or can it be anything? Martin, As I said in my post launching the competition "Self compositions would be nice but again not essential". Any piece - self composed or cover - is what I'm looking for but a favourite performance piece. As I said - music from the heart. I do want a new recording of it though - done now for this competition and not a re-posting of an existing recording.
