I’ve been toying with the idea of getting a 12 fret Ovation 12 string. I thought years ago that I would end up with an Ovation but it never happened and I’m quite happy with the guitars I’ve got so nothing ever came of that. My current 12 string is a maple Guild J30 it’s big and blonde and plays well,so what’s not to like? Well it weighs a ton, which is typical for a Guild I just fancy having a lighter option. A couple of years ago when Pat Metheny played in Hull he had an Ovation 12 fret 12 string so I reckoned if they are good enough for him there should be nothing for me to complain about. What are forum members views on Ovations I do realise this is a potential Marmite topic

Shoulder problems was what spurred me to look for a short scale guitar and led me to buy my Fylde Oberon, also on the short scale spectrum is another of my favourite guitars my Godin 5th Ave archtop they are now discontinued in their non cutaway purely acoustic version but they can still be found on eBay a lot cheaper than the pickup loaded later variants, though it seems people have realised just how good these low brow guitars are, and they are no longer as cheap as they once were

I used quite like guitars by Fransiek Furch, is there a theme developing here?

Just a couple more thoughts on the K&K It was strongly recommended to use the k&k pre amp but as it was so happy with the AER I didn’t take that any further. Also being a passive system there’s no battery to fail!

Another advocate for k&k a spot on match for my Fylde Oberon which I used to play through an AER all eq set flat I had no qualms choosing k&k for the next guitar I wanted to amp up

The finish on Eko guitars always put me in mind of glass topped tables

If it's cracks in lacquer you want find a 70s Eko Ranger that's had a hard life!

I fitted a set of Gotoh Guhts as they used to be known, over 40 years to a guitar that I still have, with the only tool I had at the time, a Swiss Army knife, the tuners are still fine but I've lost that knife!

I realised the mistake immediately. I wAs trying out a string I'd not used before , but I've been sent a replacement foc,so that will be fitted soon perhaps not tonight tho! The strings I was trying were Rotosound Superbronze. I think the last time I bought Rotosound strings was from Kitchens in Leeds and that's some time ago. They are an odd string in that the core not the wrap is in contact with the saddle. I'm rather impressed with them and will certainly be buying them in the future. Has anyone else tried them?
