I still subscribe to Acoustic Guitar now digitally but I regard my back copies a useful resource

Another vote for the Polytune the first one I had was faulty and ate batteries I got it replaced and the replacement is fine. I still have an Intellitouch which is rechargeable but the TC is neater and more compact so gets used more often

A pal of mine who is great reso player once told me he had a quest to play reso guitar in all the genres that didn’t realise they needed a reso, hence fb.me/e/2zY5ScnVJ

I really was disappointed with my room. The tv was hanging off the wall ,The bathroom sink wouldn’t hold water, it would drain away in the time it took boil a kettle for a morning shave just a total lack of maintenance . The mattress seemed to have a rubber sheet on top which meant I woke up in a sweated up bed. The bar had had a similar lack of maintenance some seriously dodgy pints. Fortunately they were helpful about bringing drink in. I felt sorry for the staff who I found to be helpful and apologetic. However parking was no problem and the hotels location has a lot to commend it and the function room fulfilled all our needs. So if if it’s going to be next years venue I’d give it the benefit despite my doubts. Having said that, it is obvious that it is in need of a major overhaul so there is the possibility it might not be available next year so exploring other options,I think is worthwhile

I would have used a different saw on different wood

Perhaps it would more accurately called an Extremely minimalist Benjamin Scoop

Have you tried Thomastiks. I use their Plectrum strings on my elderly Fylde Oberon excellent strings for fingerstyle, it’s not obvious to me why they were named Plectrum

I think I’ve got a book of easy Dowland pieces it’s more of pamphlet than a book from the 70s. I haven’t seen it recently but I don’t throw much out and I haven’t moved house in over 30 years.

Here’s a pic (hopefully) of the Howe Orme that Nigel Forster brought along to the forum meet a few years ago I thought I’d got pics of the adjustable neck connection arrangement and of the end block I but I could only find this. What a fabulous guitar

Does anyone else remember the Howe Orme cylinder top guitar that Nigel Forster brought along to the forum meet a few years ago with the totally adjustable neck. Nigel could reconfigure the action in the time it takes to check the tuning. It certainly put to bed any uncertainties I might have had about bolt on necks

In the Great String Famine in lockdown 1 I couldn’t get my usual string brands and I tried out some Rotosound Superbronze 12s and was quite pleased with them. They seem to suit my cedar topped cocobolo Linklater particularly well. A favourite brand of mine is Thomastik I particularly like their Plectrum range not an obvious choice for finger style perhaps but their construction goes a long way to lessen string noise squeaks etc. In this years Brexit String Famine Thomastik Plectrums weren’t available so I tried the Thomastik Spectrum range which were fine but I still like the Plecs . For an archtop Thomastik Flats are THE string no string noise ,last forever ( they don’t gather muck and grime) they are just so slick, I’ve also got them on a Telecaster

www.dropbox.com/s/wcymrnlg0h1dd7i/Photo%2018-04-2021%2C%2012%2022%2038.heic?dl=0I spotted this yesterday it frankly appalled me. I’m not adverse to upcycling far from it but when something potentially useful is made into a piece of tat I just find it so sad . I remember a few years ago the now defunct Music Room used a guitar neck for a door handle for their front door that seemed fine and not at all out of place. Another stall on the same site purportedly sold specialist cheeses. Their specialty what Chip Shop Curry flavoured cheese. Perhaps I was in the wrong place
