Haven't been to Frailers for six months. In May I bought a Martin 00-18V cos it was sooo nice.

Rob
I love your 'before and after' picture above. On the left a douglas fir door, on the right a douglas fir guitar. It's looking good. Happy birthday for the 20th, you deserve a holiday.

I've used frogtape (http://www.frogtape.co.uk/ ) to cover the fingerboard when dressing the frets. Comes off really easy with no mess.

Nice guitar Martin. Prompted me to play my electrics again

Sounds great Mark. I like parlour guitars too because I find them easy to play (although I prefer a wider neck). Glad you've got guitars that you like.

Perhaps I/we spend too much focus on learning and developing the muscle memory for the guitar part and don't give enough time or attention to the lyrics?. I agree with scorpiodog, repetition must help. I'm going to give the storyboard idea a go, that might help me remember the words. If I'm trying out a new song at an open mic, I'll use a song sheet.

A question: what should I use to stick my label inside the box, the surface of which has been shellacked? I've got various things that might do it but I can't remember what I used last time; it may have been fish glue, in fact... Sorry, couldn't resist .... how about a 6" nail? Seriously, Rob, I've really enjoyed this thread. I admire your approach and thinking about making a unique guitar. Honestly, can't wait to see and hear the finished article. Well done.

I use the Dunlop USA pick in lurid green. Easy to find when you drop it on the floor.

Hi jim, I understand where you're coming from. I have a 000-28VS which I love, but I also yearned for a mahogany body Martin. So for my last birthday I treated myself to a 00-18V to go with it. I'm very pleased with both. If I had to keep just one of them, I'd keep the 000-28VS.

It looks a great amp. Reminds of the legendary Fender Champ from the 70s

Welcome to the 000-28VS club. I really enjoy mine. Great tone, good string separation, and a wide comfortable neck. Good choice.

Lovely looking guitar Dave, and great sounding. I've enjoyed seeing your build pictures.
