About the Forum

Acoustic Soundboard is a free, independent forum / messageboard for the discussion of acoustic guitars, other acoustic instruments, associated equipment, playing music, listening to music and a whole lot more!

The community has been in existence since 2007, and the forum was previously hosted by ACOUSTIC magazine, under the name Acousticlife.

This forum was set-up at the beginning of October 2010 when we were having lots of access problems at Acousticlife.
The forum software there was very buggy, people struggled to register and access the forum and we were afraid that we would all lose touch with each other if it disappeared. This then became the back-up, so that in times where we couldn't access the main forum, we could still remain in touch with each other and post.

It became useful when Acousticlife changed software and a lot of posts, uploads and information was lost.
Following the problems caused by ACOUSTIC changing publisher from OysterHouse to Blaze (access/bookmark/login issues) this forum received lots more use.

In November 2012 as we were getting more serious about using this forum, we held a mini competition to rename it from Acousticlife Backup to something of our own identity.
Forum member andrewjw came up with the most popular suggestion, and so Acoustic Soundboard was born.

In February 2013, Acousticlife suddenly stopped working altogether and after several attempts at contacting ACOUSTIC staff, including the then editor Guy Little, we received a short note and later a letter from Guy in which he explained that they had a brand new enhanced website not tied to the previous server which hosted the forum.
He says that a decision was made not to continue with the Forum, which had been been closed without any notice to any members.

As such we had no opportunity to warn anyone, to transfer data/content we had built up, or to obtain further contact details for fellow members, and as a result many members were lost or took a long time finding their way to the new forum.

Acoustic Soundboard has slowly but steadily built up an excellent member base, and is now striving to include interesting content, stimulating discussion and most importantly, provide a fun place for like-minded people to visit, interact, learn and be entertained.

What's on your mind?
walkingdecay: The Guardian's interview with Jackson Browne is very good, charged with his wisdom on politics, songwriting, age and life in general. www.theguardian.com/music/2021/jul/13/jackson-browne-i-think-desire-is-the-last-domino-to-fall Jul 13, 2021 8:44:33 GMT *
walkingdecay: Their review of the new album uses the term "boomer" in lieu of insight, however. Looking forward to getting it. Jul 16, 2021 11:25:50 GMT
robmc: Goood interview, thanks, I may get this album I've not got any of his others, I agree with and had a little chuckle at this line, 'when I see an old guy with a dye job it interferes with my enjoyment of the person’s work'.. Jul 18, 2021 16:54:13 GMT
walkingdecay: Ha! Yep. Macca's moved back to dying, seeming to do it gradually in the hope that nobody would notice. I may decide that I'm fooled. And have no idea whe he was born. Jul 19, 2021 8:12:30 GMT
jangarrack: I worked with a bloke who turned up one day with a jet black dye job, which looked odd to start with, but then he got soaked in the rain and ended up looking like Alice Cooper. Jul 19, 2021 9:38:14 GMT
walkingdecay: The wife I have now is a brunette who currently can't go out much because she burns so easily. Weird - I'm sure I married a redhead. Jul 19, 2021 10:00:46 GMT
walkingdecay: The good ol' Grateful Dead had the right idea, I think. www.youtube.com/watch?v=mzvk0fWtCs0 Jul 19, 2021 10:06:02 GMT *
walkingdecay: My friend Ishwa is a skid talker ('Is this warm room enough?; 'Yeah man, it was a recreation of The Hattle of Bastings') He just said on the 'phone: 'Pete, you don't really know me. I was so angry I went for the juggernaut.' Jul 21, 2021 9:35:03 GMT
robmc: As Ishwa might say, 'it's better than being a kid stalker I guess' Jul 21, 2021 12:38:04 GMT
curmudgeon: Surely these are Spoonerisms after a certain Reverend Spooner, who famously said : You have hissed all my mystery lectures, and were caught fighting a liar in the quad. Having tasted two worms, you will leave by the next town drain" Jul 21, 2021 14:43:12 GMT
curmudgeon: I popped into the local Shell station to top up my petrol tank. My old CR-V like SoopaH so that's what I put in. I bought 8.27 gallons (37.6 litres) the bill was £57.87. that works out at £7 per gallon!! $9.58 for our 'merican pals. Jul 21, 2021 14:47:15 GMT
curmudgeon: I'm gonna go electric! Next time my tank is empty I'm gonna load it up with AA batteries! but I'm not daft so I'll make sure that they are rechargeable!! Jul 21, 2021 14:48:32 GMT

Onechordtrick: Apparently if you say gullible really slowly it sounds like lemon. Jul 31, 2021 6:49:17 GMT
ocarolan: Well, I didn't fall for it, of course, but a friend who tried it said it sounded more like "ggggggiiiiiiiiiiirrrrrllllllyyyyyyyyybbbbbuuuuuuuulllllll. Weird, I didn't think you could have a girly bull. Jul 31, 2021 21:19:33 GMT
scorpiodog: These days we respect gender fluidity. Of course you can have a girlie bull. But is it a little white one, or is that heightist? Jul 31, 2021 23:06:22 GMT
walkingdecay: Had a heat pump installed. The space at the back now looks like James Watt's workshop and despite assurances they plumbed it so far from the wall we'll have to get a smaller fridge. Wonder if I could use the tank for brewing? Beer radiators... Aug 1, 2021 11:16:37 GMT
