About the Forum

Acoustic Soundboard is a free, independent forum / messageboard for the discussion of acoustic guitars, other acoustic instruments, associated equipment, playing music, listening to music and a whole lot more!

The community has been in existence since 2007, and the forum was previously hosted by ACOUSTIC magazine, under the name Acousticlife.

This forum was set-up at the beginning of October 2010 when we were having lots of access problems at Acousticlife.
The forum software there was very buggy, people struggled to register and access the forum and we were afraid that we would all lose touch with each other if it disappeared. This then became the back-up, so that in times where we couldn't access the main forum, we could still remain in touch with each other and post.

It became useful when Acousticlife changed software and a lot of posts, uploads and information was lost.
Following the problems caused by ACOUSTIC changing publisher from OysterHouse to Blaze (access/bookmark/login issues) this forum received lots more use.

In November 2012 as we were getting more serious about using this forum, we held a mini competition to rename it from Acousticlife Backup to something of our own identity.
Forum member andrewjw came up with the most popular suggestion, and so Acoustic Soundboard was born.

In February 2013, Acousticlife suddenly stopped working altogether and after several attempts at contacting ACOUSTIC staff, including the then editor Guy Little, we received a short note and later a letter from Guy in which he explained that they had a brand new enhanced website not tied to the previous server which hosted the forum.
He says that a decision was made not to continue with the Forum, which had been been closed without any notice to any members.

As such we had no opportunity to warn anyone, to transfer data/content we had built up, or to obtain further contact details for fellow members, and as a result many members were lost or took a long time finding their way to the new forum.

Acoustic Soundboard has slowly but steadily built up an excellent member base, and is now striving to include interesting content, stimulating discussion and most importantly, provide a fun place for like-minded people to visit, interact, learn and be entertained.

scorpiodog: I watched it over the weekend. Interesting film. I felt that, for all sorts of reasons, the two Clarks and TVZ had rather sad lives. I'm sure there were high points, but they all seemed to me to be troubled. Jun 17, 2024 11:27:43 GMT
