Do any of you guitar-buildy types have a rock-solid tip for acquiring some high quality unbleached slotted bridge pins for much cheapness?  I'd like a very cool, simple set of pins to match an unbleached bone saddle I got installed recently - I thought it wouldn't matter, but yes I AM that shallow and would like to complete the look of my AXE  with some gnarly, raw bone pins - no abalone or dots please!! Something like these would be fab - tonetechsupplies are out of stock sadly   |

Martin I only ever use unslotted pins and a slotted bridge, as the button on the string makes much better contact with the bridge plate and doesn't wear away the edge of the hole on the plate as it does with slotted pins. I tend to use the Waverley pins from Stew Mac. Be careful that you get the correct taper for your bridge, 3deg or 5deg, the Waverley are 5deg.
You can always put bleached ones in some cold tea to take the edge off the whiteness.

Those are lovely, apart from the abalone! Thanks yorkie, but they don't ship these to the UK anyway (must be the organic material...)

Colin, I just looked again and noticed that the bridge is slotted, but these pins I have (Tusq) are most definitely slotted as well
So I could get away with unslotted pins? I don't know about the taper though...where's me calipers?  |

Martin, Chris Alsop will make you a set to your specification - he made the bridge pins for my acoustic bass. He has an e-bay shop where some bone pins are shown but I couldn't see just plain bone. As I say he will make a set to your specs and the e-mail address for him I have is: Chris Alsop Guitars e-bay shopchris@chrisalsopguitar.co.uk The John Press pins will be the Stew Mac ones I suspect - he has a number of their items that he sells on. |

I went the suggested eBay route and found some ‘aged’ bone pins. They look ok... Before and after :

Flipping photos are too large to upload Anyone know an admin or mod who can help? If you’re using Windows you can resiz in Paint ; Preview on a Mac does the same thing. Whatever program you use the approach is broadly similar: You need to find the Edit or Properties option and then find the resize or size option. Make sure that you resize by the same amount horizontally and vertically - some programs have a keep aspect ratio check box |

I just uploaded to another host and hot linked to them from here. I usualy do that but was being lazy while on the ipad thingmy, which is limited to say the least!
