Been solely dedicated to my acoustic the last couple of years, probably only picked up and plugged in my electric once or twice in the last 12 months. I did some upgrades on it a while back (new bridge, new electronics), but then it had a broken string and I just hadn't got around to restringing it. Anyway, yesterday I did, plugged it in, and then spent basically the whole day playing 7th barre chords, with a Bossa/finger style rhythmic pattern, up and down the neck, like a man badly in need of a black roll-neck sweater. It was a lot of fun! Have had different 13s on the acoustic for well over a year now. It's been great for strengthening, and progress has been slow but sure. I only really got comfortable with barrre chords six months or so ago, they suddenly became easier to play for longer periods of time. Anyway, what a revelation! Plugged the electric into the DR clone, sounds amazing! (I think I spent nearly as much on the NOS Mullard and RCA tubes as I did on the amp...) With 10s on, it feels and sounds very different from the acoustic, obviously, but just the ease of barring, the lower action, the ease of playing faster etc., plus a years worth of intense acoustic practise, has made me feel like I suddenly upped a level for free. This morning I spent getting the relief, action and intonation dialled in, ready for another boogie later. Downsides are the closer string spacing and different scale length took a bit of adjustment getting used to, and it's harder to finger-pick, but I am totally loving it and might try and bring it into rotation a bit more. At least try to do one proper practise session a week on the electric instead. Just wanted to share! Attachments:

With one guitar, I have an adjustable roller tuneomatic Schaller which the spacing can be set in between 52mm & 57mm. Conventional Tele bridges generally have string spacing at 54mm which I find to be just enough. The DR clone looks a beauty. As much as I like my acoustics, there's a lot of pleasure in playing a Tele through a Fender amp (with some fuzz, reverb and tremolo too!)

Thanks! No idea what the string spacing is, it would have been a part of the bridge info spec I;m sure. Just know it'a lot narrower than my acoustic. Played the electric loads more yesterday and today too, along with the acoustic. Will definitely try and play it more now.
Yes, it's a Tele, but a weird one, dual humbuckers with a coil tap, which I usually have on, cos I prefer the single coil sound. I've also only used flatwounds on it for over a decade now, have found it gets closer to the vintage 50's style sound I like. The amp was made to my spec by Vyse Amps in the UK, with lots of mods to the basic BF AB763 DR circuit, sounds glorious, am way more into clean tones than overdrive etc., and it does those shimmery Fender chimey tones really well. I have an Eventide H9 and Fromel Seraph Deluxe (Dimension C style chorus) in the tube FX loop. Love it!

Lovely set up you have there. There's no doubt the electric guitar is so much easier on the fingers. Nice to have both though. You should add some lead guitar to your recording. Cheers.

Thanks grayn! Not much of a lead player, although am finally getting around to learning all the major scale and mode shapes, so we'll see maybe in a year's time!
