My £12.99 eBay special drum stool has bitten the dust. only lasted a few months but served its purpose in that it showed it was comfortable for me to sit on. It’s actually held together for now by an old bike stem that I had lying around So so now I’m looking for a replacement. Something padded, about 50cm high and under £50. Something relatively sturdy, subtle colour and robust. Any recommendations?

I'm also looking. I have tried three different stools, all under £50, and all of them creak now, which is really annoying when trying to record.

A couple that I’ve found say with an integrated not suitable for guitars with a nitrocellulose finish.
How can I tell? It’s a Faith Venus Blood Moon

I use an armless padded swivel office chair on castors with a small back.
Works well for me and you can get them for under £50 - try Ikea etc..

I have tried any number of different chairs and have yet to find one that I feel totally satisfied with. I’m sure that many other forum members are interested in this topic, Some pictures would be useful.

You could always ask a local joiner to knock out a few stool samples for you to test for sturdiness, colour and robustness. (Well, if you can’t beat ‘em... )

Find a chair you like, measure the distance from the seat to the floor and keep a record. That is the critical measurement I am told.
Of course, I have never bothered to do this myself.

It’s a Faith Venus Blood Moon Nitro finishes tend to be the preserve of older instruments, or new instruments pretending to be old. If it's a modern instrument & not pretending to be an old one, it's almost certainly got a poly finish. Sadly enough, an old paint spattered wooden stool, which was my favourite ever guitar playing perch, is the only thing I've ever had stolen from a gig.

Thanks, Been in touch with Faith who confirmed its poly. Still new to all of this I’m afraid

A guy turned up at our monthly acoustic night on Friday with one of these. It has a built-in guitar holder. After we'd all taken the p*** out of it, he let us use it and I fully expect to see a whole row of them there next month, along with mine (due to arrive Tuesday). It's lightweight and comfortable. Recommended.
