My main instrument is: Whatever I'm building...

Purchased on a wim to help me practice in silence (best way for me). Arrived this morning and out of the box the only real problem was it wasn't in tune! (Oh hell I've got to tune it!).
So I've tweaked the intonation - mainly the low E and A strings. At some point I'll probably reduce the string height at the nut but with 9's on board after playing an acoustic with 12's on it's not a problem.
I thought the 40.2mm nut width was going to be an issue as my fingers (like my waist) are not the slimmest around. However, the 'C' shaped neck and satin finish were very comfortable and I didn't notice the few mm's missing at the nut.
So first impressions are good - time will tell whether the silent practice works...

Drifting to the dark side, Francis... take care, fella. Yes but I'm doing it in silence... I give it 2 days (max) before you think to yourself “I wonder what it sounds like through an amp?” and then you spend the next week scrolling through the classifieds section seeing what fx pedals are still available and then you forget to eat, brush your teeth and how to stand up. I’m only glad that I got two of your instruments before the orderlies come to take you away.

Excellent move, Francis. Congrats! You might try a set of 10s when it comes to string change - I was forever bending the bass strings sharp just by fretting them. My left hand has always exerted a death grip on guitar necks and still does long after I didn't have to play the kind of guitars that needed it! Oh, and it will deffo sound hugely better with a tortie scratchplate... Have fun. Keith

Keith Welcome to the dark side francis. I've been playing electric almost exclusively for some 4 month now but I know that will wane and I'll be back on the acoustic shortly. I'll almost certainly be selling my Brook Tamar when lockdown is over though. Just don't forget Keith's guitar and post more pictures please.

Loved my old Tele, 1963 in Olympic White, it morphed into a child's bicycle. If you bring it to Halifax, and Keith brings his we can have a Status Quo tribute session!
